Young Timothy’s Big Mission
We…sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you and encourage you concerning your faith. 1 Thessalonians 3:1-2
Here’s an incredible story about a teenager who went on a dangerous solo mission for God! Timothy was probably just a teenager when the apostle Paul sent him on his very first mission trip by himself. Paul, Silas, and Timothy had been telling people about Jesus in a city called Thessalonica, but they had to leave quickly when some people got angry and tried to hurt them.
Paul traveled three hundred miles south to Athens, but he was really worried about the new Christians they had left behind in Thessalonica. So what did Paul do? He sent the teenager Timothy to go back and check on them! Timothy had to travel by himself, sneak into a dangerous city, find the new believers, encourage them in their faith, and then travel back to report to Paul.
Can you imagine how scary that must have been for a teenager? But Timothy was brave and faithful, and his mission was a huge success! He brought back great news that the Christians in Thessalonica were still strong in their faith.
This story shows us that God can use young people to do amazing things for His Kingdom! You don’t have to wait until you’re a grown-up to serve God in important ways. Right now, at whatever age you are, God has places He wants to send you and people He wants you to encourage in their faith.
Think About It: Where might God be “sending” you this week? Maybe to encourage a friend who’s having a hard time, to show kindness to someone who’s lonely, or to stand up for what’s right when other kids are doing wrong. Like Timothy, you might feel nervous about your “mission,” but remember that the same God who helped Timothy is with you too! Ask God to show you how He wants to use you to encourage others and share His love.

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
